Rosmorport Discusses Environmental Aspects of Enterprise Activity

The North-West Basin Branch in late June organized an extended session of the enterprise headquarters and branches ecological departments concerned with the discussion of different issues of realization of ecological and environmental protection measures during the current economic activity of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

As part of the meeting the problematic aspects of the implementation of environmental legislation have been discussed, associated with the processing of permits for the port infrastructure facilities designed, constructed and operated by the enterprise, processing of permits for repair dredging works in the waters of the seaports and on the approaches to them, as well as at the sea navigation canals including compliance with the environmental requirements during the disposal of recoverable bottom soils.

Participants of the meeting have exchanged views on regional specificities of processing permits and making water use contracts for the surface water bodies, including the cases where the right to use the water objects is purchased at auction.

The attendees being the environmental divisions’ experts have been made aware with the experience of the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch to implement the ecological and environmental protection activities in the course of preparation and holding the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014, and also have discussed the state and prospects of development of the environmental services market in the seaports of Russia.

The meeting program have involved the visit to Ust-Luga Seaport, where the participants have been able to get acquainted in reality with the work of the North-West Basin Branch Ust-Luga Department units engaged in the collection, transportation and disposal of waste from the vessels and the shore organizations in Ust-Luga Seaport using the modern recycling stations.

Also, the participants of the meeting have visited the providing fleet base in Ust-Luga Seaport being under construction and the facilities of Bronka transshipment complex in Big Port of St. Petersburg, where in the framework of the investment project on creation of the named multifunctional transshipment complex the enterprise performs construction of the approach canal and operating water area.
