Comments Invited for Clark County Shoreline Plan

Public comment is sought on a limited amendment to Clark County’s shoreline master program. The county’s plan was updated in 2012.

These minor changes will affect how Clark County administers its shoreline master program. Amendments clarify the definition for dredging and correct inconsistencies related to dredging in wetlands and for restoration. Non-water-oriented commercial uses will also be allowed on shorelines in limited circumstances.

Shorelines in the county include the Columbia, Lewis, East Fork Lewis, and Washougal rivers; Merwin, Yale and Vancouver lakes; and numerous creeks, including Lacamas Creek, Salmon Creek, Burnt Bridge Creek, and Cedar Creek.

Under Washington’s 1972 voter-approved Shoreline Management Act, Ecology must review and approve the amendment before it takes effect.

Comments on the proposed amendments will be accepted until Nov. 6, 2014.
