The £8 million Cromer Coast Protection Scheme which restarted in September last year is close to completion, according to the North Norfolk District Council.
Cllr Tom Fitzpatrick, Leader of North Norfolk District Council, said: “This vital project will help protect Cromer for years to come. We’re in the final phase and we have worked hard to minimize the impact on residents and businesses while ensuring the town can benefit from the Coast Protection Scheme when the summer season arrives.”
The surface removal will start on the east end by the Gangway and work westwards to finish at the Melbourne Slope.
The current scheme is being designed not only to maintain the existing level of defense, but also to withstand up to 50 years of predicted of sea level rise.
