CHEC Nabs Yuzhny Port Dredging Contract

China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), has won the $39.8 million Yuzhny Port dredging contract, Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) just announced.

This capital development project will include a significant amount of dredging work at the berths 23, 24 and 25, together with the reconstruction of the marine approach canal and internal water approach canals to deep-water berths of Ukrainian Yuzhny Port.

According to USPA, the following companies submitted their proposals to participate in the tender: Boskalis International B.V., China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., Jan De Nul N.V., LTD Novadeal (subsidiary of DEME Group) and Van Oord Ukraine.

Earlier, USPA held a meeting with dredging companies and presented a draft updated tender documentation for dredging works.

The draft documentation was developed in accordance with the best international practices by a working group consisting of USPA specialists jointly with of the EBRD experts and the law firm Arzinger.
