Hopper Dredger HAM 316 Busy in Harwich

Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger HAM 316 has been busy over the last couple of days with the Harwich Haven maintenance dredging project.

According to the HHA latest notice to mariners, the dredger HAM 316 started maintenance dredging of the berths and approaches around 8th September 2017.

The dredging will take place in the areas around Channel edges (Buoys 1-8), outer channel and the Beach End bend. Material from these areas will be disposed to the Inner Gabbard disposal site,” reported the HHA.

The Harwich Haven Authority also added that the plough dredger Norma and the survey vessel Shamrock will be supporting the operations.

If all goes according to schedule, TSHD HAM 316 will complete this maintenance dredging project in approximately 12 days.

Overall, the project includes maintenance dredging in Harwich, disposal to sea, small scale plough and agitation dredging, together with associated hydro-graphic survey works.
