Barnstable County has just released this short video of their new dredger, M/V Sand Shifter and the work currently being done in Cotuit Bay.

“ Our dredge crew works tirelessly in all kinds of weather to maintain our waterways, providing savings to our towns ,” the county stated in its latest release.

At the moment, the dredge crews are removing sand from the western tip of Sampson’s Island, redepositing it to the east end of Dead Neck Island.

Approximately 9.000 feet of pipe run between the dredge suction head and the discharge end.

According to the county’s report, a barge sits at the midway point with a relay pump and support crane.
