Napier Port and HEB Construction today released the latest video about the 6 Wharf development scheme, the biggest port construction projects in New Zealand in recent times.

In the video, Napier Port’s Chair Alasdair Macleod and HEB’s Construction Manager Dan Chisnall presented some of the highlights from the project. This includes latest progress on piles, concrete pours and dredging works.

Napier is a growing region, and Napier Port recognised that its current infrastructure needed an expansion if it were to accommodate the same fantastic increases it had seen in the past 10 years: 50% more containers, 94% more cruise ships and 64% more bulk cargo.

After an ECI process throughout 2019, HEB Construction arrived on site early 2020 to assist with this problem, tasked with constructing the new $147 million Wharf 6. This 390-metre-long wharf will play a key role in accommodating Napier’s economic future, allowing the port to reduce congestion and bring in larger vessels.

It is expected that Wharf 6 will be ready for use in late 2022.
