According to the Marine Notice No. 77 of 2022, the works will last until April 2023, subject to weather and operational constraints.

For this project, the contractor will use a backhoe dredger, modular pontoon dredgers, split hopper barges, tugs and other smaller vessels.

The Smooth Point Pier Extension project at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre has been awarded to Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd.

The project will see the completion of a new 120-metre-long quay development at Smooth Point, aiming to alleviate congestion during the peak fishing season.

The works will also include dredging in excess of 10,000 cubic metres of rock from the bed of the harbour.
