According to GCWA, around 100,000 cubic meters of sand – that’s about 40 Olympic swimming pools i is being removed from shoals created by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

In partnership with the City of Gold Coast, this sand will be placed at Main Beach to help restore the coastline and strengthen protection against erosion.

This project is part of GCWA’s ongoing program to keep our waterways safer, more navigable, and resilient – supporting tourism, jobs, and our coastal lifestyle,” the Authority concluded.
