BLRT conducts full spectrum of work on Jan De Nul’s TSHD Pedro Álvares Cabral

Dredging

BLRT Repair Yards said that the Pedro Álvares Cabral, a 14,000 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger of the Jan De Nul Group, recently arrived at their Klaipeda yard for a special survey.

Over the past weeks, she has undergone a full spectrum of work. Both tailshafts were withdrawn and carefully serviced. Her rudders were overhauled.

The underwater hull was cleaned and treated with high-performance silicone-based coatings. Inside the hopper, steel renewal works were carried out, along with the renewal of the fixed part of the overflow valve.

We also tackled the complex bottom door systems, replacing rubber seals, adjusting hinges, installing doubler plates, and making sure every component is seaworthy and sound,BLRT said.

The jet water piping was replaced both along the keelsons and around the hopper doors. Her self-unloading system, including critical gate valves, received maintenance.

Also, BLRT ensured the trailing suction pipe and other piping systems were fully inspected and serviced.
