In 1955, Ackermans & van Haaren (AvH) began work on one of the world’s most important waterways – the Suez Canal.

Over a period of six years, the company contributed to major widening, deepening, and bypass projects that improved navigation along this critical trade route between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.

By 1961, more than 19 million m³ of dredging work had been carried out thanks to the involvement of AvH.

This was the first chapter in a commitment that spanned decades and contributed to the modernization of the Suez Canal, and it is another milestone in our 150-year story,” DEME Group concluded.
