The federal government will decide whether to dredge Little Lake marina to clean up PCB contamination in the lake bed, a provincial Ministry of the Environment official says, reports thepeterboroughexaminer.com.

A group of scientists from the Royal Military College in Kingston has recommended dredging the bed of Little Lake- around the Peterborough Marina because of high levels of PCBs in the soil.

But officials from the Ministry of the Environment oppose dredging considering that dredging the bed may dig up more PCB’s that are buried deep in the soil.

The Peterborough Marina is located in the heart of downtown Peterborough on Little Lake.
