Australia: Moyne Shire Seeks Solution for East Beach Erosion

According to the ABC News, the Moyne Shire is seeking solution to fix the erosion problem at the Port Fairy East Beach.

They plan to use the sand from the Warrnambool dredging project to replace the greatly damaged beach and dunes at the East Beach.

The Moyne Shire officials have asked the Victorian Government to financially support this protection project.

The Government policy at the moment is that they do spend money on beach renourishment and protection in Port Phillip Bay and Western Port but they haven’t committed any money outside of those areas and we know this Government is very balanced in its view of looking after regional Victoria and more populated areas,” stated the shire’s chief executive, David Madden.
