Dredging on New Suez Canal in Full Swing

Dredgers are now in operation at the new canal in Suez, according to sis.gov.eg.

Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish was on the site on Tuesday as dredgers “Tariq bin Zeyad” and “10th of Ramadan” entered the new canal from the south.

“Salahuddin al-Ayyoubi” and “Mecca” are also operating in the canal.

Mamish also met with a delegation of Denmark’s Maersk Group for maritime transport to discuss the New Suez Canal. Maersk vessels are among the largest ships crossing the Suez Canal periodically.

The SCA chairman asserted that the new canal will reduce the waiting time ships have to spend to cross the waterway.
