Meeting on Storm Lake Dredging in May

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 6:30pm at the Sunrise Pointe Clubhouse in Storm Lake to discuss and receive comments on the study that consulting firm FYRA Engineering is conducting on Storm Lake.

The meeting will be hosted by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Storm Lake Preservation Association and the Lake Improvement Commission, according to Storm Lake Radio.

FYRA Engineering of Omaha is conducting a study and developing alternatives to improve the effectiveness of the on-going dredging program. The alternatives will be considered by the DNR, LPA, and LIC for inclusion in an implementation plan for the desired improvement to the dredging program.

This includes the analysis of lake bed materials, the analysis of the sediment in the water column, the testing of flocculation and lake bed stabilization practices, the study of using dredge materials for island creations and a final report.
