Buttermilk Channel Requires Dredging

The New York District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to issue an Invitation for Bids for maintenance dredging of Buttermilk Channel, New York Federal Navigation Project, with subsequent placement of the dredged material at a contractor furnished, state permitted upland placement site.

Due to restrictions found in the water quality certificate, the proposed work should only be performed by a mechanical dredge with a closed environmental clamshell bucket.

The dredged material, about 90,000 cubic yards of sediment, will be required to meet all Federal, State, and approved local criteria required by the Government agencies having jurisdiction where the placement site is located.

A contractor will be required to start work within five calendar days after the date of receipt of the Notice To Proceed (NTP).
