Dredging Allows Larger Ships to Dock at Teesport

The first vessel, a 75,000 tonne Conti Spinell Bulk Carrier, has docked at PD Teesport Berth 1, Middlesbrough, following the recent completion of £19m phase 1 works, McLaughlin & Harvey announced.

This development program included the demolition and reconstruction of 305m of suspended deck quay to replace the original 1950s understrength structure.

The berth has also been deepened to allow larger ships to dock, such as the 75,000 tonne Conti Spinell Bulk Carrier for which the old berth was unsuitable.

McLaughlin & Harvey, a building and civil engineering contractor, has also been appointed to construct phase 2 of the berth reconstruction, extending it for a further 245m.

This £13m phase is scheduled for completion in early 2016.
