Cleveland Harbor Public Hearing Set for Next Week

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, will host a public hearing on March 1, 2016 at the Breen Center in Cleveland, OH.

The purpose of the public hearing is to provide an opportunity to anyone wishing to make verbal comments regarding the proposed open lake placement of sediment dredged from the upper federal navigation channel of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland Harbor.

This hearing was requested as a result of the public review period (November 20 through December 20, 2015) of a Public Notice on the proposed discharge of dredged sediment issued pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

The USACE is nationally responsible for determining whether the discharge of dredged sediment at a specified open water site complies with Clean Water Act Section 404(b)(1) Guidelines.

The public hearing agenda will be as follows:

  • 5:30 – 6:00 – Public hearing sign in/verbal comment sign in;
  • 6:00 – 6:30 – Opening remarks from Buffalo District Commander, LTC Karl Jansen;
  • 6:30 – 9:00 – Verbal comment period.
