Damen DOP Submersible Dredge Pump Celebrates 25 Years

The DOP submersible dredge pump is this year celebrating 25 years since it was first introduced to the market.

During the course of the 25 years, hundreds of dredge pumps have been sold all over the world.

From the beginning, DOP submersible dredge pumps have been designed and built by Damen Dredging Equipment, the dredging subsidiary of the Damen Shipyards Group.

With more than 50 years of experience at the time, Damen Dredging Equipment was well positioned to introduce products that addressed the needs of the sector. This resulted in a range that, to this day, features high pressure submersible dredge pumps that have large diameter passages in the impellers; up to 200 mm.

DOP submersible dredge pumps also create a high head, enabling them to pump dredged material over a distance of up to 1,000 meters using a single pump.

As DOP pumps only work when submerged, they create a relatively high mixture concentration, thereby boosting efficiency. They can also operate at depths of up to 500 meters below sea level.

The wide range of heavy-duty DOP submersible dredge pumps and the variety of suction heads available means that there is a model for almost any dredging job. Sand mining, bed leveling, barge unloading and removing compacted soils can all be accommodated. There is even a version for dredging clay using a specially designed disc bottom cutter. They can also be fitted with electric drives for use as mobile booster stations.

Overall, the DOP submersible dredge pump is a powerful dredging tool. Over the past 25 years it has proven its versatility and the effectiveness of the heavy duty designs. It has become an essential component, designed to give years of dependable service in the rough business of dredging.
