Jiangsu Haixin Heavy Industries Shipyard (JHHI) is finishing the construction of their biggest Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) until now.

With an impressive total capacity of 6.500 m³/h this unique vessel requires the biggest and strongest high efficiency pumps in the market. Keeping these demanding requirements in mind, JHHI chose the Dutch company HK international b.v. (HK) to develop and deliver these customer-made pumps through a turn-key project. Additional to HK’s commitment the decisive factor in awarding this order was a strong combination of Dutch engineering and competitive pricing, without any concession in quality. A further point of interest to JHHI is that HK develops high efficiency pumps based on the working range efficiency instead of the more commonly used water efficiency to attain designs better matching real working conditions.

With a combined shaft power of 16.400 kW. The installed units are two 5.700 kW double walled pumps with a working pressure of 40 bar and a single 5.000 kW submerged pump of 11 bar.

The pumps were produced in China and shipped to JHHI as subassemblies, after passing all pressure tests and dimension inspections. Assembled and installation was done at the JHHI shipyard using specialized lifting tools, under close supervision of HK.

The Cutter Suction Dredger will be completed by the beginning of 2017.
