DPWH Ends Cagayan Flood Control Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways, through the Cagayan Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-CTDEO), has completed the construction of flood control system along Pinacanuan River in Bagumbayan, the Philippines.

District Engineer, Danilo U. Tabilas, said that they had allocated funding for the construction of a river control system for the section of the river which needed to be addressed quickly.

The river control system spans a length of 271.60 lineal meters. “This structure will prevent influx of water to agricultural and residential areas during onset of heavy rains,” Tabilas said.

Tabilas added that the flood project will prevent damage to properties and protect the lives of about 153,502 residents of Tuguegarao City.

The project started on April 9, 2018 and was completed on December 5, 2018.

Barangay Bagumbayan is located near the Pinacanuan River which makes it vulnerable to flooding when the level of the river water rises.
