United Development Company (UDC), a Qatari real estate developer, has awarded the execution of marine works at Gewan Island to UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Company and Promar Marine Contracting Company.

UDC president and CEO, Ibrahim Jassim al-Othman, signed the agreements with UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Company vice chairman and Group CEO, Ramez al-Khayyat, and Promar Marine Contracting Company chairman and managing partner, Juliana Chamoun, in the presence of representatives from all parties.

The signing ceremony took place at the Oyster, The Pearl-Qatar, on July 16, 2019.

At the event, Al-Othman highlighted that the total investment value in Gewan Island amounts to approximately $824 million.

According to the contract, the marine works will involve dredging, reclamation fill, and the provision and installation of core, armor, geotextile materials, and concrete elements, as well as the supply and installation of selected fill and beach sand material.

Once completed, the island will accommodate 3,500 residents and 3,000 daily visitors and will be home to 712 units, including 639 apartments, 41 waterfront villas (out of which 20 villas are standalone), 26 beachfront villas, six island villas, in addition to 11,000m² of retail space and a number of multi-use buildings.
