USA: Lake Providence Port Partially Operational

The cutterhead dredger Butcher, which arrived at the port on August 9, has cleared enough of the Lake Providence Port harbor to make it partially operational for barge traffic.

Johnny Martin of Terral River Service said: “We’re only loading about six barges a day, but that’s a whole lot better that what we were facing a short time ago.”

According to thenewsstar.com, the Butcher has completed dredging of the harbor and is now working to clear a large sandbar in the channel leading to the harbor.

The completion of this dredging project is scheduled for September 20-23.
