West Ocean City Maintenance Dredging Moves Ahead (USA)

The West Ocean City maintenance dredging project commenced on November 16.

Aimed at maintaining navigability for fishing vessels and other large craft, the channel will be deepened and widened within the 90-day underwater excavation project.

The undertakings will recover an area approximately 150 feet wide from the Inlet channel to the harbor, and 150 to 200 feet wide to the head of the harbor. An estimated 23,500 cubic yards of material are to be excavated at a depth of around 10 feet.

The disposal premises for the dredge spoils will be the Worcester County’s surface mine site on Langmaid Road in Newark. Dredging will be carried out 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, Monday through Friday.
