Stabilization Project at Norriego Point Underway (USA)

A temporary stabilization project for the Norriego Point in Destin is being undertaken however the contractors are in a crisis situation since the permit to dredge expires on March 18, reports The Destin Log.

Winter storms have caused erosion resulting in the mouth of the harbor filled with sand. The workers are laying down sheet piling to secure the point and are also installing pipelines to begin dredging-out the sand on Tuesday.

Reportedly, 25% of the job has already been completed and the workers expect to finish the project by the deadline. Following these undertakings, city officials will pursue a more permanent solution to the on-going erosion.
