Australia: Lake George Dredging Begins

According to the ABC News, the dredging work begins this week on the channel at Lake George near Beachport.

During this project, the channel’s mouth will be excavated so that high tides can enter the lake.

The Water Department is hoping that this dredging project will help to improve the lake’s water levels, after minimal inflows last year.

Up to 17,000 cubic metres of sand and sediment will be removed during the cleaning operation, which should take two to three weeks.
