Hanson Marine to Get Sand from San Francisco Bay

Hanson Marine Operations, a subsidiary of Lehigh Hanson, has won a 10-year mining permit for sand removal from San Francisco Bay.

The permit was approved by the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (SFBCDC) on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

It allows Hanson Marine to mine up to 1.141 million cubic yards of construction grade sand annually for the next ten years from 2,601 acres of Central San Francisco Bay subtidal sand shoals and State Lands for a total of 12,030,000 cy using a hydraulic drag arm dredge.

With hundreds of production sites across the U.S. and Canada, Lehigh Hanson, part of the HeidelbergCement Group, is one of the largest construction materials companies in North America.
