Yorkshire Water, Van Oord Sign Marine Framework Contract

Business & Finance

Yorkshire Water has signed a marine framework contract worth up to £100 million over the next five years.

The four framework partners include ABCO Marine, Farrans Construction, Van Oord and Ward & Burke.

“Between 2010 and 2015 we spent £110 million to help create some of the cleanest beaches and bathing waters in Europe. By working in partnership with other organizations we aim to secure and maintain the highest possible water quality standard at Yorkshire’s designated bathing beaches,” Yorkshire Water said in its announcement.

Maurits den Broeder, Managing Director for Van Oord UK Ltd, said: ‘’We are delighted that Yorkshire Water has selected Van Oord onto their framework and we look forward to working together with a strong team of marine professionals to improve water quality on the Yorkshire coast.”

Over the next five years the four partners will undertake all of their marine civil engineering work.

This type of work requires specialist marine plant and work vessels and commercial divers are often necessary.
