Colwyn Bay Project Shortlisted for ICE Wales Awards
The Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project has been shortlisted for the annual ICE Wales Cymru Awards.
The awards celebrate outstanding engineering achievement across the country and include the George Gibby Award, Roy Edwards Award, Bill Ward Sustainability Award, Designed in Wales Award, Studies and Research Award, and the Emerging Engineers Award.
The Colwyn Bay Project (Phase 1b/c) combined the construction of a new section of promenade and concrete stepped revetment with the dredging and beach nourishment of a million tonnes of golden sand to breathe new life into a deteriorating and underused frontage, providing a single holistic solution to the town’s regeneration and coast protection needs.
This major coastal defense project in North Wales, competing for the George Gibby Award (projects over £3 million), was ordered by the Conwy County Borough Council.
The 2017 Awards Ceremony will be held at the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff on Friday 16th June 2017.
