Aberdeen has been a busy international port for nearly 900 years. Its harbour is the oldest existing business in the UK.

To accommodate the significantly larger vessels and large-scale operations, Aberdeen Harbour needed to extend their current port facilities and Van Oord was commissioned to do all the dredging work, followed by the contract to create the southern breakwater.

In this photo, backhoe dredger Razende Bol, side-stone dumping vessel HAM 602 and split hopper barge Johannis de Rijke can be seen at work.

After completion, the harbour will create significant opportunities for the region, in both new and existing international markets.
