Napier is a growing region, and Napier Port recognised that its current infrastructure needed an expansion if it were to accommodate the same fantastic increases it had seen in the past 10 years: 50% more containers, 94% more cruise ships and 64% more bulk cargo.

After an ECI process throughout 2019, HEB Construction arrived on site early 2020 to assist with this problem, tasked with constructing the new $147 million Wharf 6. This 390-metre-long wharf will play a key role in accommodating Napier’s economic future, allowing the port to reduce congestion and bring in larger vessels.

It is expected that Wharf 6 will be ready for use in late 2022.
