Brown’s River dredging project complete
NY State Senator Alexis Weik has announced that the dredging of the Brown’s River is finally complete.
“The navigational conditions within the Brown’s River federal channel are now safe for the foreseeable future,” Weik said in the announcement.
The project provides for a channel 6 feet deep to 250 feet inshore of the jetties; 4 feet deep to the head of navigation, 100 feet wide and approximately 1 mile long.
During the works, approximately 30,000 cubic yards of dredged material was dredged from the river and placed in the Suffolk County’s Browns Creek upland disposal site.
