West Bay Harbour Dredging Shortly Interrupted

A 22-ton digger from Axminster Excavators was rescued after sinking in the mud of West Bay on Friday, reports Bridport News.

The digger was conducting annual dredging work in the harbour when it got stuck in the mud. At first, contractors were unable to get it out since the water rose, however they managed to free the excavator on Saturday with the assistance of Bride Valley Motors.

Luckily, no damages have been reported.

According to a spokesman from Axminster Excavators, the company has been dredging the harbour in West Bay for a number of years and nothing like this has ever happened before.

We have been doing that harbor for a number of years and never had a problem. We have had heavier machines than that in there,” the spokesman added.

Dredging work in the harbor is still being undertaken.
