USA: Deep Creek Lake Sedimentation Study Begins Next Week

As The Republic reports, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources says it’s poised to begin the second phase of a Deep Creek Lake sedimentation study.

The work beginning next week will evaluate the entire lake. The agency launched the study in 2010 amid complaints from some lakeside homeowners about increasingly shallow water and excessive weed growth.

The DNR says sedimentation is a natural process. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says a final report next year will include strategies for dealing with the sediment, including the possibility of dredging some areas.
