The Netherlands: PUMA Realises Temporary Bridges at Yangtzehaven
Building consortium PUMA realises temporary bridges for rail and road traffic at the Yangtzehaven.
This bridging of a first water connection between Maasvlakte 2 and the Yangtzehaven is necessary for the discharge of E.ON cooling water after the sea wall is closed in July.
The construction of a rail bridge required a large-scale interruption to rail services in the weekend of 1 April. This period was also used to connect new rail on Maasvlakte 2 to existing infrastructure. Between 31 March and 2 April the rail protection also underwent permanent reconstruction, making it ready for the connection of the 12-km double track along the outside contour of Maasvlakte 2. All in all it was quite a precise job that was managed within the agreed period of the interruption to services.
