USA: Preparations for Fox River Dredging Underway

Preparations for Fox River Dredging Underway

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the workers last week mobilized dredging equipment and measured water clarity on the Fox River in preparation for resuming polychlorinated biphenyl cleanup project.

Actual dredging must begin no later than Thursday, by order of U.S. District Judge William Griesbach.

This ruling came at the request of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency after Appleton Papers, which had majority interest in the cleanup operation, ordered a work stoppage to try to force other area paper companies to help pay for it.
