Phoenix Lake Preservation and Restoration Plan Includes Dredging

Improvements to Phoenix Lake will be presented by Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) staff at a Special Board meeting and an educational public meeting this Thursday, July 12, 2012.

The Phoenix Lake Preservation and Restoration Plan has developed conceptual plans for lake restoration (including a lake dredging plan), water quality improvements, wetland habitat improvements, public access, and fire management. Ultimately, the Plan will be used to prepare an engineered project design, environmental review, secure community support and construction grant funding.

This Phoenix Lake Preservation and Restoration plan is funded by a $100,000 Sierra Nevada Conservancy Grant and $120,000 TUD matching funds for a total budget of $220,000. TUD hired a consultant, Horizon Water and Environment to oversee the project.

The Board is scheduled to hear the presentation this Thursday, July 12th at 3pm, followed by an educational public meeting regarding proper land use practices for property owners adjacent to Phoenix Lake at 6pm.
