USA: Dredging at Port of Vicksburg About to Begin

According to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials, the dredging project at the Port of Vicksburg is scheduled for tomorrow.

This project should help vessels to deal with low water in the Mississippi River.

The river levels will oscillate in the coming weeks but remain low. The rain in the upper reaches of the Mississippi River valley has helped, for now,” stated Marty Pope, a senior hydrologist with the National Weather Service office in Jackson.
