NC Ports Names Deputy Executive Director

Jeffrey E. Miles was named Deputy Executive Director for Operations of the North Carolina State Ports Authority by Tom Bradshaw, Executive Director.

In my brief time with the Authority, I have grown to depend on the operational expertise Jeff provides our ports and our customers. He is leading the development of our strategic plan, working with various departments internal and external to the NC Ports. Jeff and his operations team will play central roles as we plan for the future and further develop our port facilities in Wilmington and Morehead City,” said Bradshaw.

In his role as Deputy Executive Director, Miles will drive operational best practices and contribute to the development of business strategy. He is responsible for operations at both seaports, and inland terminals in Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad.

Miles joined the Authority in January 2005 as Chief Operations Officer, bringing more than 20 years of experience as a senior-level manager in the port and maritime transportation industry. He spent 10 years as general manager of container operations at the South Carolina State Ports Authority, and three years as president of a private marine terminal company specializing in bulk and breakbulk operations. He also managed intermodal logistics and terminal operations for major container shipping companies, including Maersk and U.S. Lines, and worked as a principal consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Miles holds a Bachelor of Science from the College of Charleston and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.
