Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Cuxhaven has announced the details about the maintenance dredging works on the Lower and Outer Elbe, at the area KM 638.9 – KM 755.3, from 2013 to 2016.

This work will be undertaken by using a suction hopper dredger in the fairway channel and in the wake of the Lower and Outer Elbe, with excavation of 28,000,000m³ of the material.

It is intended, in addition, to award by negotiated procedure:

a) a repeat order to extend the contract by 1 year;

b) six dredging campaigns with a volume of 1,000,000 m3,

c) extension of the width of the fairway channel from 300m to 320m in the case of a legally authorized shipping channel adaptation of the Lower and Outer Elbe for 14.5m draft container ships.

It is assumed that in the first year maintenance dredging will be in the amount of 10,000,000m³ and in the following two years the amount dredged will be 9,000,000m³ per annum.

The deadline for the tender is January 29, 2013.
