Merriwether-Cherokee Dredging Plan Revealed

The Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District has a requirement for the lease of one Cutterhead Hydraulic Pipeline Dredge, fully operated with attendant plant for dredging borrow material from the Mississippi River and placing it into a single upland site at Merriwether-Cherokee, River Mile 869L, as well as maintenance dredging of existing Mississippi River harbors within the Memphis District.

The dredge will be used to maintain various harbors at any points on the Mississippi River between Cape Girardeau, Missouri (Mile 48UMR) and Greenville, Mississippi (Mile 537 AHP) which may include Hickman, Kentucky; New Madrid, Missouri; Caruthersville, Missouri; Osceola, Arkansas; Tiptonville, Tennessee; Memphis, Tennessee and Helena Arkansas.

The work will consist of Yardage in place dredging at Merriwether-Cherokee as well as Hourly Harbor dredging at various Mississippi River Harbors. The estimated cost of the proposed work is between $5,000,000.00 to $10,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on/about 25 February 2013, and the bid opening date will be on/about 26 March 2013.
