Florida Ports Leaders to Discuss WRDA

Florida port directors and transportation leaders will be visiting Washington D.C. on September 18 and 19, 2013, to meet with congressional members on top seaport issues, specifically discussing the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and its importance to Florida seaports.

For the Washington Fly-In, the Florida Ports Council will be joined by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Ananth Prasad and Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Director Jesse Panuccio in providing insight from the Florida perspective on the need for investment in Florida’s freight infrastructure and seaports.

In addition to scheduled meetings with more than 20 congressional members individually, the Council will be conducting a briefing for the Florida Congressional Delegation with presentations by the FDOT and DEO as well. Other participants in the Fly-In include representatives from the Florida Governor’s Office, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Transportation Commission and Florida agency staff.

Florida Ports participating in the Fly-In are: Canaveral, Everglades, JAXPORT, Key West, Manatee, Miami, Palm Beach, Panama City, Pensacola and Tampa.
