Slough Arm Cleanup Set for Next Week

The Slough Arm dredging project is set to start on April 21 and will be carried out by the Canal & River Trust.

“We are aiming to dredge over 10,000 tonnes of silt, refuse and metal from the bottom of the Grand Union Canal in Slough to make it easier for boats to navigate along the Arm towards the Slough Basin. It is the first major dredging project on the Slough Arm for many years and will focus on two and a half mile stretch from Uxbridge to the Basin, taking about six weeks to complete,” the Trust said.

A digger mounted on a pontoon will be used to carry out this £716,000 work and where possible all metal and other debris will be recycled.
