Wenatchee Shoreline Scheme Under Final Review (USA)

Wenatchee Shoreline Scheme Under Final Review

A program to manage 5.5 miles of shoreline within Wenatchee’s city limits is open for comment through the Washington Department of Ecology.

The locally tailored shoreline program is designed to help minimize environmental damage to shoreline areas, reserve appropriate areas for water-oriented uses, and protect people’s access to public land and waters.

Previously covered by a county-wide shoreline program, the city joined a regional update process in 2007. Since the dissolution of this regional effort, the city has been developing its own shoreline program and adopted a final plan in June 2013. Once approved by Ecology, the city’s shoreline program will become part of the overall state shoreline program.

Comments will be accepted through June 5, 2014.
