NWS Earle Dredging Plan Presented

Approximately 2.1 million cubic yards of material will be removed from the Naval Weapon Station (NWS) Earle area under the Naval Facilities Engineering Command’s plan.

This cleanup scheme, located in Colts Neck, New Jersey, is estimated to cost between $25 mln and $100 mln.

The project consists of dredging work around pier 3A and 4 at NWS Earle, including berths, turning basin, terminal channel, and a portion of Sandy Hook Federal Channel.

These areas will be dredged with a clamshell dredger to a project depth of 45 feet below mean lower low water (MLLW) plus 2 feet of over-depth.
