Delaware River Main Channel Deepening

The Dodge Island, a Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company hopper dredge, motors up the Delaware River during the dredging operations on July 23, 2014.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its contractor Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company began dredging on July 18 as part of the next contract of the Delaware River Main Channel Deepening Project.

Current work is part of a $14.1 million contract to remove approximately 400,000 cubic yards of material from the Lower Reach A portion of the river (southwest of the Philadelphia Airport to Chester, Pa.)
