Dredging for Mid-Town Beach Starts Soon

Today, mobilization efforts are set to begin at the intersection of North Ocean Boulevard and Dunbar Road in preparation for the upcoming Mid-Town Beach Renourishment Project.

The mobilization effort is expected to take about 2 weeks. Dredging is scheduled to begin as soon as the week of January 12, 2015 and continue until April 10, 2015.

This project will replenish approximately 2.8 miles of shoreline, between approximately Miraflores Drive and Banyan Road.

With a placement volume of more than 900,000 cubic yards of sand, this is the first large scale project of the Town Council’s adopted 10-Year Coastal Management Program.

The Town’s contractor is Weeks Marine, Inc. The sand placement operation on the beach will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, inclusive of holidays.

Marine operations within the Lake Worth Lagoon staging area will be limited to the hours between 6:00am and 6:00pm. With the exception of on-beach emergency equipment repairs, project related support services are to be completed between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
