News in Photos: Sediment Sampling in Bandon

There was a lot going on in the Bandon boat basin this week where the Port of Bandon Harbormaster Bob Shammot, together with employees from the Port of Brookings Harbor and the Port of Astoria, was taking sediment samples for the upcoming dredging project.

They were able to successfully complete, during this Wednesday and Thursday, another step in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredging permit process to remove sediment from the launch ramp area and the boat basin.

Vibracore equipment for drilling sediment samples was provided by the Port of Astoria, the Port of Brookings Harbor provided their work boat and two employees, along with Port of Bandon harbormaster, Bob Shammot.

Seven samples were taken in all and sent to a lab in Kelso, Washington.
