Trump Seeks Permission for Coastal Project

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump plans to build a wall along the Irish Atlantic coast to protect his golf course, Irish Examiner reports.

Trump’s Irish firm that operates his luxury Doonbeg Golf Resort is to shortly seek permission for a €10 million plan to place 200,000 tonnes of boulders to prevent further erosion of the course along a 2.8km stretch at Doughmore beach facing onto the course.

The Doonbeg Golf Resort warned that the realization of these plans “is dependent on the provision of adequate protection from coastal erosion”.

The resort lost substantial ground during the last two winter storms.

The environmental impact statement (EIS) in relation to the plan is currently being completed and plans are expected to be lodged with Clare Co Council before the end of the year with the club hoping that construction work will commence next Summer, according to the Irish Daily Mirror.
