Macquarie Wharf Dredging Begins

Business & Finance

Dredging operations started today at the western end of the Macquarie wharf No.2 in the Port of Hobart.

According to the Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST), dredging is expected to continue through until mid-November.

To assist with the dredging operation a silt curtain will be deployed. The silt curtain will lie approximately 15m from face of the wharf and will be marked at its corners with Special marks.

The project comes as a part of TasPorts’ $7 million redevelopment plan for Macquarie wharf 2 aimed to foster cruise and Antarctic activities in Hobart Port.
